If you’ve ever thought about visiting Carmel-by-the-Sea (or simply planning a staycation for some much needed R&R), this is the moment. Two new boutique hotels with buzz are opening their doors here this summer, joining the recently debuted Villa Mara just down the beach at Carmel Point (which was named one of Condé Nast Traveler’s Best New Hotels in the United States for 2023). Both newcomers reimagine old standbys: Le Petit Pali will take over what was formerly The Hideaway and The Getaway, while Carmel Beach Hotel drops anchor in the former Colonial Terrace space. Just a seashell’s throw away from the storybook town’s surf and sand, lauded restaurants and quaint shops, the hotels also arrive in time for summer’s heavy-hitting events: the U.S. Women’s Open golf tournament at Pebble Beach in July, and Monterey Car Week, which culminates with the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August. So strike while the weather is warm and book your room ASAP—exclusive new experiences await.

Le Petit Pali

The Palisociety hospitality collection introduces its newest boutique hotel concept, Le Petit Pali, with a bang this summer. Set to open July 1 with a week of special events, the brand’s twin Carmel locations, Le Petit Pali at Ocean Ave and Le Petit Pali at 8th Ave, aim to reinvent the classic inn experience. Featuring many of Palisociety’s trademarks (Diptyque bath amenities, Bellino Fine Linens, Antipodes bottled water, Linus bicycles) alongside carefully curated local goods (expect to see Rise + Rome bakery favorites at daily champagne continental breakfasts, and a rotating menu of small bites and drinks from Stationæry, Chez Noir and Folktale Winery at guest-exclusive social hours), Le Petit Pali straddles the line between escapism and hometown comfort. The 58 total guest rooms—34 at Ocean Ave and 24 at 8th Ave—capture Carmel’s sense of laid-back luxury with Palisociety’s signature charm. Vintage art, floral textiles, and in-room fireplaces are a delightful backdrop for enjoying fresh-made cookies and hot water bottle service, available nightly. And, in true Carmel fashion, there’s even a suite of amenities for your dog, playfully called “Le Petit Pawli.” Look for weekly special events with local partners Thursday through Saturday as well.

Carmel Beach Hotel

If you love L’Auberge Carmel (or have dreamed of staying there), its eagerly awaited sister property, Carmel Beach Hotel, is now open. Operating with the same level of luxury as L’Auberge, the sea-centric newcomer's exclusive amenities are only available to hotel guests. That means you need to book one of 26 guest rooms spread across the property’s seven historic buildings—each outfitted with Waterworks bath fixtures and Victoria & Albert soaking tubs, and many featuring private decks with sweeping ocean views—in order to experience award-winning chef Justin Cogley’s (Aubergine) new Secoya restaurant. With complimentary breakfast baskets delivered each morning and an all-day menu of local, seasonal fare (think oysters, crudo, caviar, Dungeness crab, and slow-poached salmon), every morsel is meant to be enjoyed al fresco, in-room or on-the-go. Located just a block from the beach, picnic baskets are available throughout the day for that reason. An intimate three-room spa will also open with the hotel, featuring therapeutic treatments inspired by the California coast and a calming design culled from the seaside setting, with sandy hues and iridescent glass mosaic tiles reminiscent of the shells you may find while walking along the shore during your stay. <img src="https://cdn.prod.website-files.com/6457f19f1c1e1601e2c9c3f6/6487a9355b63a6818c705cea_CC-Icon--20.svg"alt="CC" style="display: inline-block;  max-width: 100%; min-width: 12px; width: 12px; height: 12px;">
