3 Places for Prime Antiquing

Kismet House founder Erin Conway shares her top spots to give your space soul.

When Kismet House founder Erin Conway began sharing her love of design on social media in 2016, it was as a creative outlet and home renovation chronicle. But the Pacific Grove resident, and mom of two, soon amassed a devoted fanbase (Kismet House has more than 825,000 followers and 22.5 million likes on TikTok alone) and turned her hobby into a career. Erin now has her own home decor lines featuring lighting, candles, and more, and she works with high-end interior design clients to bring her classic-and-collected aesthetic to life. Her knack for making a space feel “meant to be” is due in large part to her use of secondhand pieces with soul. Antique shopping for those storied treasures is, of course, a frequent pastime of Erin's, and she’s divulging to us her top spots for unearthing hidden gems on the Peninsula.

AM

Cannery Row Antique Mall, Monterey

Cannery Row Antique Mall is my top pick for large pieces—tables, chairs, cabinets, dressers. You will pay higher prices here because of its proximity to Cannery Row. It’s well-known and busy, but the massive scale and selection is worthy of your time!

Pickings Antiques, Pacific Grove

Pickings Antiques has the best for art, mirrors, books, lamps, and decor. It’s a little spot nestled in downtown Pacific Grove, but it always has so many hidden treasures. It’s well-curated, and the inventory is updated regularly.

PM

Vintage Finds, Pacific Grove

Vintage Finds has a huge inventory but is well laid out with vendor booths, making the hunt less overwhelming. Lots of finds—from retro ’70s porch seat gliders to early-1900s French lamps. From clothing to furnishings, they have it all and, if you’re lucky, their sweet pup will be at the checkout counter to bid you farewell.
